Manchester - London 2004

By Gostar den Daas | May 2004
Visiting London Heathrow and Manchester International.

On the first day of this short trip we visited Manchester International airport, England's biggest airport outside the London area. The traffic consists of international carriers linking to the north of England, and a variety of charters and holiday operators like My Travel and Tui.

Manchester International

Spotting at Manchester is excellent. There a several spots on the airport of witch te viewing park is the best. Besides the park, you also can overlook the airport from the top level of the car park. (level 13). Not ideal for photographing because of the fens but ideal for writing number. There is even a small aviation shop on top of the car park.

The viewing park is located behind the My travel maintenance hanger. The park gives a good view on the two runways and the taxiways on which planes are very close to stand. The park has it's own snack corner, aviation shop and toilets with hot water. Two planes a parked in the view park, the most famous of course being the Concorde G-BOAC. But the Avro RJX100 prototype is also parked here. The latest addition will be a forward fuselage of a Monarch DC-10.
