The BAF Days, also known as the Belgium Air Force Days were held at Kleine-Brogel Airbase located near the Belgium, Dutch border. As always the Belgians were able to attract some interesting visitors, with the first abroad visit of an Italian F-35, and the presence of two Ukrainian Flankers.
Static
Interesting visitors in the static included an USAF CV-22 Osprey, Danish and Portuguese EH-101, French Tigre not often seen abroad, and an Austrian Army Alouette III.

Air Show
The airshow included a fly-by of an Andrews based KC-135R from 459th ARW. Another interesting visitor was the RAF Falcons leases Do-228 from Canadian Summit Air.
At the end of the Spanish F-18 demo, the pilot was unable to retract his arresting hook. Unable to fix the issue the aircraft landed with the hook causing sparks when it touched the runway. Luckily the show continued quickly after an inspection from the fire department. No major damage to the runway and aircraft, apart from the hook being a bit shorter then intended.

Tempest
The Belgium Air Force still need to select the successor to the aging F-16 fleet. This of course motivated the Italians to send the F-35, which they build in license for other European countries, who already selected the F-35. This was also the reason the UK brought the hideous looking Tempest mockup, which was presented only a few weeks before at the Farnborough trade show. If this F-35 competitor will ever fly remains to be seen, but the deal includes replacing the F-16s by Typhoons, replacing them later by the Tempest, in which Belgium then could participate in the development.
