Machynlleth Loop

By Ian Garfield | 2008-2010
Low flying in Wales.

A high ranking place on every military spotters wish list is the Machynlleth Loop in Wales. The Loop area is part of a low fly area called LFA7, which covers the most of Wales. The Mach Loop is situated between Dolgellau and Machylleth.

The loop area is literally a roundabout of flowed valleys running counter-clockwise following the A470 north eastwards from Machynlleth in the south to Dinas Mawddwy then heading north west to join the A487 at the Cross Foxes Inn. From here it follows the A487 southwards through Corris to end back at Machynlleth. You have 3 popular places to photograph, The Cadair Idris (CAD), The Bwlch and Corris corner. Check location our map for the spots and the parking places.

Over a 3 year period Ian Garfield took these beautiful shots on the hills of Machynlleth Loop. If you have shots of your own, please send them to us as we like to add them to this page.
