Tens of thousands watched the first visit of the Airbus A380 to Schiphol International Airport. Although there are already 40+ A380s in service, this was the first ever visit to the Netherlands. The Airbus test airframe (F-WWDD, 2e prototype MSN004) is on a European tour for airports to test their readiness.
At 9.45 the Airbus touched down at the Polderbaan (18R) after the air traffic controller warned the spotters through their scanners that it was inbound and would make a tower flyby first.
At 14.00 a test servicing was done at the E-gate, testing the readiness of Schiphol to welcome the A380 on normal airline services.
At 18.00 the aircraft with call sign Airbus 101 left from the Aalsmeerbaan (18L) for Farnborough.
Thanks to Schiphol Airport for their spotter friendly support, like providing runway information, directions and special parking spaces.
