Payerne Open House 2004

Monday September 6th

The spotter facilities on Monday were great. The spotters were allowed to stand on a shelter, with great views on the departing aircraft. Amongst the departing aircraft were two Danish F-16's and the French Mirage 4P from ERS 01.091.

Around eight o'clock in the morning, the Greek F-4E left. Almost every aircraft left for its home base today. The sun was in a good position till two o'clock and then it slowly turned in front of the public. Some aircraft remained low for most of the runway. One Mirage 2000C came extremely close to us.

In the afternoon the ground personnel towed the line of F-5Fs, F/A-18Ds and all the Mirages to their shelters. The Mirage 4P take off was very impressive, just like the F/A-18Fs. On the Monday some support aircraft arrived, like two C-160D Transalls from the German Air Force (the 50+87 in white c/s), Dutch Fokker 60 and an Italian AF C-130J. The Swedish Tp.84 (Hercules) which arrived on the Saturday afternoon departed on the Monday.

Team 2 left half past four, after photographing the gateguards and some aircraft in the museum. The museum was officially closed, but the aircraft outside could be seen, like the Mirage 3RS R-2117. This reconnaissance Mirage won the 2003 recce meet at Florennes.

Compliments to the Swiss Air Force and personnel at Payerne. They also arranged the catering on the Monday. Great!
